The 2025 Volkswagen Jetta benefits from a product refresh as the current-generation sedan enters its seven model year in North America.
The Jetta is a sold alongside the Golf GTI and Golf R as the brand’s last remaining passenger cars in Canada, and also represents Volkswagen’s most affordable model in the country as well.
2025 Volkswagen Jetta Changes and Updates
For the 2025 model year, the Jetta obtains revised front and rear fascias, new alloy wheel designs and new paint colors, while the interior gets a new dashboard with a floating eight-inch infotainment system touchscreen and touch-sensitive climate controls.
The range-topping GLI features black upper and lower grilles with a honeycomb mesh and a red accent stripe, while the rear bumper diffuser is highlighted by a honeycomb pattern, with the look complemented by wider exhaust tips. The mid-grade Comfortline can be specified with a Sport package that adds a black grille, black window surrounds and black mirror caps, while the GLI’s Black Package adds black roof, mirror caps and wheels.
The Jetta’s powertrains are unchanged, but only the GLI is offered with a manual transmission from now on, as the Trendline and Comfortline lose their six-speed manual gearboxes. All Jetta variants except the GLI get a 15 mm suspension drop for what the brand calls “an even more dynamic driving experience.”

2025 Volkswagen Jetta Warranty Coverage
In Canada, the Volkswagen Jetta is covered by a 4-year/80,000 km Limited Warranty (whichever comes first) and a 5-year/100,000 km Powertrain Limited Warranty, along with a 7-year/unlimited km Corrosion Perforation Limited Warranty.
24-hour roadside assistance is offered on the Jetta for 4 years or 80,000 km in Canada.
What the 2025 Volkswagen Jetta Does Well
- The Jetta is fun to drive. Despite its modest horsepower rating, performance is lively thanks to the base engine’s generous low-rpm torque. The Jetta GLI is even more exhilarating with its extra power and sport suspension.
- While the Jetta’s interior fit and finish has been criticized over the years, the latest refresh improves things a little more. The control layout is straightforward and the switchgear feels solid.
- Even the base trim level is compelling from a feature standpoint, as it includes heated seats, a heated wheel, dual-zone climate control, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, blind-spot monitoring, and more. The essentials are there.
- Interior space isn’t class-leading in any measure, but there’s ample room for both front and rear passengers. The Jetta’s trunk looks bigger than its 399-litre volume suggests.
What the 2025 Volkswagen Jetta Doesn’t Do Well
- The touch-sensitive controls on the steering wheel spokes have been replaced with individual hard buttons, which is most welcome. However, the climate control panel is now touch-sensitive, and setting the fan speed and regulating cabin temperature is distracting while driving. At least the rest of the control is ergonomically placed, as mentioned above.
- Fuel economy is quite good with a combined average of 7.4 L/100 km, and it’s possible to do even better with a little eco-driving. However, most of its compact sedan rivals are more efficient, while the Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla and Hyundai Elantra are also available with hybrid powertrains, which the Jetta doesn’t have.
- No AWD. A feature that’s available on the Subaru Impreza, the Toyota Corolla Hybrid and the Mazda 3. It’s not essential to get through winter, but it helps. The Jetta doesn’t have that.
- The automatic transmission’s throttle response is slow, which can become irritating. It’s not a big deal, but it takes some getting used to.
