1,064 HP, 1,123 NM, 1,200 lbs Downforce: The 2025 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 Does a Triple Quad

The ZR1 has our jaws on the floor

  • ZR1 bolts two turbos to 5.5L Z06 LT6

  • The most powerful Corvette ever

The Chevrolet Corvette has always punched well above its weight class, but the 2025 ZR1 is set to be the greatest supercar fighter of all time. It’s a 1,065 hp, 828 lb-ft monster with aerodynamics that should have track record recorders around the world getting ready to re-write their books.

Chevy has taken the 5.5L DOHC LT6 from the Z06 Corvette and strapped on a pair of turbochargers. Loads of boost and some serious engine upgrades including a second fuel system are necessary to get the V8 up to 1,064 hp and 828 lb-ft of torque. This is, after all, the most powerful V8 in a mass-produced car anywhere.

To help cool this monster, Chevrolet has added a flow-through hood that takes air through the charge cooler heat exchangers and sends it up and over the bodywork. Chevrolet also brought back the split window rear end so it could have even more air-moving vents on the backside of the 2025 ZR1.

The 2025 Corvette ZR1 has a carbon fiber roof to cut weight and the largest brake discs ever on a ‘Vette to cut stopping distances. The massive rotors are carbon ceramics, too, to help it stop every time lap after lap.

That huge rear wing is part of the ZTK performance package. That will also get you 1,200 pounds of downforce, stiffer springs, and a ZTK-specific calibration for the standard magnetic dampers. Chevrolet will also upgrade the tires from Michelin Pilot Sport 4S to Pilot Sport Cup 2-R UHP rubber. You’ll be able to order the aero pack without the suspension changes, but that won’t be a ZTK.

Chevrolet isn’t doing much inside, though the ZR1 will have its own stitch pattern for the seats and some ZR1 badges. There will also be a boost gauge, because this is the first time for a turbocharged Corvette from the factory.

No word on pricing, though it’s likely to be a lot. 50 percent more power and nearly double the torque of the Z06 will do that. Production starts in early 2025, and GM plans to release more details soon.
