This is part of Porsche’s collection of never-before-seen concepts from the past 15 years.
This concept was commissioned by one Ferdinand Piech, then VW Group Chairman.
The Porsche 550 One spawned the Volkswagen Bluesport Roadster and Audi e-Tron Spyder concepts.
Porsche is an automaker that has captured the imagination of car fans for decades and generations. Their collection of cars, from early production units, to modern classics and concepts is what dreams are made of. And Porsche is teasing the world by revealing some previously never-seen concepts from the past 15 years. This time, it’s the superb Porsche 550 One.

Inspired by the original Porsche 550 Spyder manufactured between 1953 and 1956. The images seen here were shared by Walter de Silva via his Instagram account. Back in 2008, when the concept was created, de Silva was Volkswagen Group design chief. According to him, the 550 One has never before been shown to the public.
Interestingly, as shared by Motor Authority, de Silva goes on to mention the 2009 Volkswagen Bluesport Roadster and 2010 Audi e-Tron concepts. Both were introduced after the 550 One leading us to believe that they shared the 550’s underpinnings. Clearly, the Volkswagen Auto Group and Porsche have dreamt of the return of the lightweight roadster for a long while.
