Visitors to this year’s Montreal Auto Show will get the chance to check out the latest Subaru BRZ special edition.
There’s no shortage of limited or special editions in the Subaru BRZ’ history. The latest is the 2019 Subaru BRZ Raiu Edition of which only 100 units will be made available in Canada this year.
There’s also a WRX Raiu which was announced back in August. That model got a subtle body kit, a short-throw shifter, black accents here and there and an exclusive paint called Cool Grey Khaki. Like the BRZ Raiu, the WRX Raiu was limited to just 100 units.
Back to the BRZ Raiu edition, it’s powered by the standard 2.0-liter four-cylinder mill found in every BRZ and that develops 205 horsepower and 156 pound-feet of torque. A six-speed manual is the only available gearbox, and really the only gearbox you’d want in a Subaru BRZ regardless of which model or edition it is.
This is a car with a short supply of torque, after all. It’s a blast to drive, but you need to have total control over the gearbox if you want to get any sort of punch out of the engine.
Other Montreal Auto Show Unveils
Based on the Subaru BRZ Sport-tech RS, the Raiu edition gets the same exclusive Cool Grey Khaki paint as the WRX Raiu along with an STI-branded front lip, side sill and rear side spoilers, as well as an STI-branded short-throw shifter.
SACHS dampers, Brembo brakes and the BRZ’ perfect 50-50 weight distribution ensure cornering and stopping performance. 17-inch wheels and leather/Alcantara seats round out the unique bits of the new BRZ Raiu.
The 2019 Subaru BRZ Raiu will arrive in dealerships shortly according to Subaru and will be priced at $33,795.
