As expected, the 2020 Chevrolet Corvette will have a convertible version and it’s coming soon.
The 2020 Chevy Corvette C8 Convertible will be revealed this fall according to a new promotional video published on Chevrolet’s YouTube channel. The drop-top Corvette will debut alongside the track-only Chevrolet Corvette C8.R racer.
The convertible version of the mid-engined C8 Corvette was previewed after the unveiling of the Stingray on July 18th. The unveiling announcement didn’t bring any more information on the convertible and we don’t have any more images either, but at least we know it’s coming “Fall 2019” according to the video.
It will very likely have the same 6.2-liter V8 making 490 horsepower (495 hp with the Z51 package) that rockets the hardtop version to 60 mph (96 km/h) in less than 3.0 seconds.
What will be interesting about the C8 Convertible is the roof placement when the top is down. From the picture below we can infer that it will be located above the engine thus taking away the possibility of seeing the motor in question like you can in the coupe. On the other hand, it probably won’t take away from the new 2020 Corvette’s impressive cargo capacity.
One of the C8 Corvette’s most discerning features is its two trunks, one in front and one in back. The rear trunk can hold two golf bags with the forward trunk being spacious enough to hold a decent suitcase. This makes the C8 by far the most versatile performance car in the world and the Convertible should be no different.
We’ll know more this fall.
