2020 Chevy Trailblazer Unveiled at Auto Shanghai

The Chevrolet Trailblazer is back, but it’s not the long, three-row mid-sized SUV you remember.

Instead, the 2020 Chevy Trailblazer unveiled at Auto Shanghai is a small, urban sport utility vehicle that is set to replace the current Chevrolet Trax. That’s what it looks like at least. We’re waiting on confirmation from GM on that one.

The original Chevrolet Trailblazer was the predecessor to the current Chevrolet Traverse. It was produced from 2001 to 2009 and was fairly popular in North America. Was it a great vehicle? No, but it worked.

As for the Chevrolet Trax, it’s one of the smallest sport utility vehicles you can buy in Canada today. It has had its moments, but it never really shined in a segment that’s getting more and more competitive.

A redesigned entry-level sport utility vehicle could do wonders for Chevrolet. The 2020 Chevy Trailblazer takes cues from the new Chevrolet Blazer when it comes to its design. The Trailblazer unveiled in Shanghai features 17-inch black wheels, slim headlights, a bold dark grille and sharp body lines.

The return of the Chevrolet Trailblazer has been rumored for a while now. We first heard about it in January and more recently in April a teaser image of the model we see here was unveiled.

With the return of the Blazer and now the Trailblazer, Chevrolet appears to be looking in the past to find the best path forward.
