Unobtainium: 2020 Ford Focus ST Wagon Revealed With 280-Horsepower

The next generation Ford Focus is already all over European roads and it will soon be joined by the new 280-Horsepower Focus ST wagon.

It’s a crying shame that more and more compact cars are disappearing from dealer lots in favour of SUV. While we understand why carmakers are making the move, seeing that superb compact cars like the new 2020 Ford Focus ST Wagon will never come to our shores stings quite a bit.

And that’s not all as Volkswagen has announced that the VW Golf Sportwagen’s days are numbered, which is horrible news. I love my Sportwagen!

But about this Focus ST wagon, it will be a force to reckon with. It will be powered by a de-tuned version of Ford’s EcoBoot 2.3-litre 4-cylinder engine and produce 280-horsepower and 310 lb.-ft. of torque. It will be front-wheel driven only and rely on either a 6-speed manual or 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Ford will also offer a diesel iteration but we’ve suffered enough already…

So here we are once more horribly teased and left for dead. The 2020 Ford Focus ST wagon will compete with the SEAT Leon Cupra ST R, the Skoda Octavia vRS Estate Challenge as well as the Volkswagen Golf Estate R. The Golf is faster as it reaches 100 km/h in 4.8 seconds compared to the ST’s 6 seconds but the Volkswagen is about £3,000 more expensive OTR.

We’re sad, very sad…
