The Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 will start at $73,995 in the US.
Of course, if you manage to get your hands on a 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 at that price, you can consider yourself very lucky. Dealers will likely charge a premium for the brand-new Shelby and availability is sure to be an issue as well. The good news is that if you do snag one, it’s probably going to shoot up in value very quickly.
Ford hasn’t confirmed how many Mustang Shelby GT500s will be built, but they will be rare. At least at the beginning.
The base 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 will start at $73,995 with a $1,095 destination charge and a $2,600 gas-guzzler tax. A few option packages are available including a $3,000 Technology package that adds SYNC 3 with navigation, blind spot monitoring, a Bang & Olufsen sound system and 6-way power driver seat.
The Carbon Fiber Track Package is what stands out, however. Priced at $18,500, it adds carbon fiber 20-inch wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires, a GT4 wing, and front splitter wickers. You also lose the rear seats.
Last month, Ford confirmed that the Shelby GT500 would develop 760 horsepower.
All of this is U.S. pricing info. Canada has yet to announce pricing for the 2020 Shelby GT500 but expect something in the $90,000 to $99,000 range. We don’t think Ford will start it over $100k, but the GT500 is sure to be more expensive than any Challenger Hellcat or Camaro ZL1. The current Shelby GT350 is priced at $75,600 in Canada.
