Kia’s GT lineup is growing. After the Stinger GT, we now get the 2020 Kia Forte GT which debuts at this week’s SEMA show in Las Vegas. Sharing many elements with the Hyundai Elantra Sport, the Forte GT packs a turbocharged engine that should liven up your daily commute.
The whole idea of the Kia Forte GT is to take your base and often bland compact sedan, and make it more fun to drive and more powerful. It all starts with the turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine found under the Forte GT’s hood. Also used in the Elantra Sport, it delivers 201 horsepower to the front wheels which puts it in direct competition with the Civic Si and eventually the redesigned Jetta GLI.
You also get a sport exhaust system, flat-bottom steering wheel, LED headlights, rear spoiler, unique design elements, sportier-looking wheels, projector fog lights, and more. A six-speed manual is standard while a dual-clutch automatic is available.
We love the Elantra Sport and we’re fairly certain we’ll love the Forte GT just as much if not more. It should arrive on the market next summer.
