2020 Kia Forte Sedan And All-New Forte5 Hatchback GT Trim Pricing Announced

The compact car segment continues to heat up with the addition of GT trims on both the Kia Forte sedan and all-new Forte5 hatchback

There was a time when hatchbacks were on life support. The few that remained, less than a decade ago, were generally mundane at best with only an exception or two. The return of the body style has brought performance variants that drivers love. The latest addition is the new 2020 Kia Forte5 hatchback in GT trim.

In order to make it, and the sedan, a GT, these cars get the 201-horsepower and 195 lb.-ft. of torque 1.6-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder engine. It is mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission which can be controlled by steering-wheel mounted paddle shifters. This is a well-known engine as it is featured in a number of Hyundai-Kia products including the Hyundai Veloster.

Other improvements to the GT cars includes a tuned suspension, 18-inch wheels with red accents, dual exhaust, front sport seats and a unique sport steering wheel. As usual, the level of content in these cars rivals everyone and when considering the price point for the performance and equipment, they’re worth a look.

The base 2020 Forte5 EX IVT (CVT transmission) starts at $22,245. The GTs, including the sedan, are priced as follows:

  • 2020 Forte5 GT DCT                              $27,395
  • 2020 Forte5 GT Limited DCT                   $29,995
  • 2020 Forte Sedan GT DCT                      $28,995

Coincidentally, we drive the new cars today so look for a full review in the coming days.
