The Kia Soul EV will be more affordable than the Kia Niro EV. Pricing was announced today.
The 2020 Kia Soul EV price is set at $42,595, $2,400 under the 2019 Kia Niro EV. The Soul EV and the Niro EV make Kia one of the few automakers to offer two electric vehicles in Canada.
Both offer 383 kilometers of range and will launch later this year. The 2020 Kia Soul EV was unveiled at last year’s Los Angeles Auto Show.
Kia’s pricing strategy is a smart one. With its starting price set at $42k, the Soul EV will be eligible for a $5,000 incentive from the Canadian government starting on May 1, 2019. This rebate can be added to the $5,000 already offered in British Columbia and the $8,000 offered in Quebec. In other words, you can get an electric vehicle with 383 kilometers of range for less than $30,000 if you’re in Quebec.
It also makes the 2020 Soul EV more affordable than the Hyundai Kona EV which starts at over $45,000.
There will be two versions of the Soul EV offered in Canada:
- Kia Soul EV Premium 2020: 42 595 $
- Kia Soul EV Limited 2020: 51 595 $
The 2020 Kia Soul EV is the second generation of the Soul EV, Kia’s first electric vehicle which launched in 2014. The new model gets a 64-kWh battery and its electric motor develops 201 horsepower and 291 pound-feet of torque.
