2020 Kia Telluride unveiled ahead of schedule

Yesterday we got an unexpected look at the new 2020 Kia Telluride, about four months before we thought we’d see Kia’s latest SUV.

We were expecting it to break cover next January at the 2019 edition of the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. Well, Kia decided to accelerate things, showcasing the Telluride for the first time during the New York Fashion Week happening now.

The truck in the pictures is fully decked out in custom off-road apparel, and is essentially dressed up for the occasion. The production Telluride will look much like the truck seen here without all the kit.

We’re not quite sure if we think the three-row, eight-passenger SUV is handsome or not as of yet but we’re still struggling with the name. We’ll get used to it soon enough.

The big ‘ute will surely feature Kia’s 290-horsepower 3.3-liter V6 engine and an 8-speed automatic transmission. Some media outlets think the 2.0-litre turbo-4 will be included however it’s been removed from the Sorento’s roster. We don’t think it will be available at least at first.

The new 2020 Kia Telluride was imagined by Kia’s California design studio and is expected in showrooms sometime in early 2019.
