And, why not? At least, we’re trying to convince ourselves that this is ok… There are numerous truck racing series currently, including Nascar, Super Trucks, European trucks, to name a few, so why not create a single-brand championship that combines race circuit and off-road track for Lamborghini’s super SUV, the Urus?
While the format sounds very much like Rallye-Cross, we’re sure the series will do generally well. Only the ultra-rich need apply as the format will be “arrive and drive.” Essentially, the formula is designed to offer driver-customers the total package experience which includes car and technical support during race weekends.
What’s more important is the Urus ST-X itself. The twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 still produces 641-horsepower and 627 lb.-ft. of torque but the kicker is that the race truck weighs 25% less! The Urus has been upgraded with all the FIA-approved safety elements, including steel roll cage, fire suppression system, and FT3 fuel tank.
Physically, its hood is visible carbon fibre, the front end’s got larger air intakes, the rear is adorned with a larger wing, all are matte Verde Mantis (green) and the SUV is fitted with 21” single-nut aluminum alloy wheels.
We’ll bet the noise is nice too thanks to the lateral racing exhaust pipes.
