2020 Land Rover Defender Rooftop Tent Is Luxury Camping At Its Finest

Is a Land Rover really a Land Rover if you can't sleep on the roof?

  • Land Rover Defender rooftop tent designed by Autohome

  • Features full-size cotton mattress and pillows

  • Costs nearly $4,700 in Canada, $3,500 in the US

Interested in venturing off the beaten path overnight? The 2020 Land Rover Defender can help you, especially when you add the new rooftop tent accessory.

Designed by Autohome specifically for the new Defender, the tent measures 7.5 feet long by 4.9 feet high and 4.3 feet wide. It’s fitted with what Land Rover calls a luxury cotton mattress and pillows, and there’s an aluminium access ladder that comes with to help you get settled in on top.

For now it’s only available on the Land Rover Defender 110, the four-door version in the family.

There’s a stowage net when you’re not using your bed and the accessory is said to fold down neatly without affecting aerodynamics.

The only pricing we have for the tent is in euros, €3,082. That translates into $3,500 in the US and roughly $4,700 in Canada. It hasn’t been confirmed for North America yet, but we’re pretty sure it will be available in Land Rover dealerships eventually.
