2020 Mercedes-AMG GLB 35 Is A 302-Horsepower Compact 7-Seater

The Mercedes-Benz GLB is headed towards a very successful career as small SUV with big personality. The Mercedes-AMG GLB 35 will be a star.

Have you all noticed what Mercedes-Benz is doing of late? Consider how much effort they’re putting into smaller more affordable products and what that means on a global scale. The new A-Class is hot, the new CLA is fabulous, and the GLB will rock. Mercedes-Benz is ever more working its way down market in North America with amazing product. It’s not all about basics as proven by the new 2020 Mercedes-AMG GLB 35.

Admittedly, all small Mercs have not be without flaws… The smart adventure wasn’t and we can only say that the previous generation CLA and current GLA are inferior vehicles although were big sellers for the brand. This proves that Benz can slap their logo on anything (the fortwo should have had a star on it?) and make money.

The latest crop of small Benzos are amazing – imagine how popular they will all be. The upcoming Mercedes-Benz GLB SUV has everything going for it, from styling, content, technology all of it built on a wonderful platform with a good powertrain. And things are about to heat up.

The 2020 Mercedes-AMG GLB 35 has just been announced and it will be powered by a twin-scroll turbocharged 2.0-litre 4-cylinder that will generate 302-horsepower and 295 lb.-ft. of torque through an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission and to all four wheels via the brand’s 4MATIC AWD system. This will be enough to launch the 3-row SUV to 100 km/h in 5.1 seconds.

Along with the power boost is a revised suspension with available AMG ride control adaptive dampers, AMG brakes and some extra drive modes. Physically, the GLB 35 gets a bespoke AMG-specific Panamericana grille, 19-inch wheels (20s and 21s are optional), and other distinct features. The cabin gains a few AMG touches such as unique-to-AMG leather.
