We knew the new 2020 Ford Mustang GT 500 would be loud. The fact is, even the Quiet exhaust mode is loud.
The new 2020 Shelby GT 500 will make every hair on your neck stand at attention regardless of which mode you choose for the exhaust. What you won’t find is a truly quiet “Quiet” mode. Being subtle is just not in the new Ford Mustang Shelby GT 500‘s DNA.
The folks over at Road&Track recently sampled the latest Shelby GT 500 and put together this amazing soundtrack for us.
The latest Mustang Shelby GT 500 is Ford’s most powerful car ever and it sounds like it. The four exhaust modes include Quiet, Normal, Sport, and Track and like in other 2019 Ford Mustang models, they go from pretty decent sound to remarkably loud. The Shelby GT 500 just takes it to another level.
This Shelby also sounds a lot louder than the GT 350 which has a pretty monstrous exhaust note in its own right. That said, Ford engineers needed to make the GT 500 the loudest of them all, and they certainly succeeded in their mission.
When we reviewed the new Mustang GT last year, we were amazed at how louder the car had gotten. The Mustang was always rather subdued in the exhaust note department, but that changed when Ford redesigned the 2018 model.
The new 2020 Mustang Shelby GT 500 is powered by a 5.2-liter V8 engine that develops “over 700 horsepower” according to Ford. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
