The Chicago Auto Show, heavy duty pickups and a new Toyota Tacoma were the highlights of a very busy week in the automotive industry.
We start with the 2020 Toyota Tacoma and we’ll work our way from there. There was really quite a lot going this week with the Chicago Auto Show, a new Ford Super Duty, a new Mazda SUV planned for Geneva, a Ford Ranger recall and a handful of new TRD models.
2020 Toyota Tacoma
With a new Ford Ranger arriving on the market and the Jeep Gladiator coming, Toyota had to do something to keep its mid-size truck competitive. Enter the 2020 Toyota Tacoma. Major changes include the addition of Android Auto to go along with Apple CarPlay, a new TRD version that will be offered in Army Green and more tech for easier off-road driving.

Ford Ranger Recall
It wasn’t a major recall by any means, but still noteworthy given how short a time span the new Ford Ranger has been on the market in North America. A problem with the automatic gearbox bezel could cause the Ranger’s transmission to shift out of Park without applying the brakes. Around 3,500 units are affected by the recall.

2020 Ford Super Duty
The Ford Super Duty competition is heating up. As a result, Ford introduced a new Super Duty last week that features a 385-horsepower, 6.2-liter V8 as well as an all-new 7.3-liter V8. The third-generation 6.7-liter Power Stroke V8 diesel will also be offered. A 10-speed automatic is part of the equipment list. The official specs weren’t released just yet.

2020 Chevrolet Silverado HD Towing Capacity
The 2020 Chevy Silverado HD wasn’t unveiled this week, but we learned more about its specs. Despite not being more powerful than the previous generation, the new Silverado HD can tow 35,500 pounds, 400 more than the Ram HD unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show.

2020 Toyota RAV4 TRD and Other New TRD Models
Toyota’s TRD lineup got a big boost at this year’s Chicago Auto Show with the introduction of a wide range of new models including the 4Runner TRD, the Sequoia TRD, and the most surprising addition of all, the 2020 Toyota RAV4 TRD. More rugged than the Trail version, it’s built for hardcore off-road trails.

Other Chicago Auto Show Unveils
The Chicago Auto Show saw plenty of new models get unveiled including the new Volkswagen GLI, the 2020 Nissan Qashqai, 2020 Kia Sportage, Mazda MX-5 30th Anniversary, and more.
Electric Ford F-150 EV Spied
The Ford F-150 electric was spied for the very first time in Michigan. The pictures show an F-150 plugged into a charging station and basically confirm that an EV F-150 is in the works.
Mazda Will Unveil an SUV in Geneva
Mazda’s planning a new SUV for the Geneva Auto Show at the beginning of the month. We’re not sure what it will be yet, but early reports suggest it could be a Mazda CX-4. A new CX-7 is also possible.
