2021 Acura TLX Type S From $59,500 in Canada

Acura’s all-new TLX Type S is ready to hit dealerships next month and now we have a price for the turbocharged AWD sports sedan. The 2021 Acura TLX Type S will start from $59,500.

The TLX Type S marks the first vehicle from Acura to wear that badge in a decade, and the automaker has taken steps to make sure the model earns it. Starting with that 355 hp 3.0L turbocharged V6 that is developed by some of the same team members responsible for the engine in the NSX and that will be used only in Type S models.

A 10-speed automatic and Super Handling All-Wheel Drive will be offered on the Type S, with the AWD system offering what Acura calls “true torque vectoring.” The double-wishbone front suspension and adaptive dampers front and rear take care of the handling along with 255-width Pirelli P-Zero summer tires, while Brembo four-piston front calipers and larger rotors (with red paint front and rear) make sure the sedan can stop as well as it goes.

The 2021 TLX Type S will be well equipped, with 16-way front sports seats, Milano leather with Ultrasuede inserts, 17-speaker audio, and standard equipment including AcuraWatch driver assistance tech.

Estimated to return 12.3 L/100 km city, 9.8 highway, the TLX Type S starts from $59,500 in Canada ($53,100 in the US), up from the base TLX’s $44,605. While Acura Canada doesn’t say how many Type S models are coming here, south of the border, the company says fewer than 2,000 2021 model year cars will be built.
