Using a new 2021 Ford F-150, the artist easily recreates the performance pickup.
The first F-150 SVT Lightning was introduced in 1993.
The all-new 2021 Ford F-150 is perhaps the most complete pickup lineup ever, or so we thought. Ford’s legendary F-150 SVT Lightning should make a comeback and if Ford’s not certain about how it should look, this artist’s rendering should serve as inspiration.
The rendering, completed by The Sketch Monkey, starts off with a Crew-Cab 2021 F-150. The list of modifications he will do to the image is spot on and true to the SVT Lightning’s DNA. The cab will get cut, the wheelbase shortened, the ride height dropped by a few inches, and the wheels, brakes, grille, and front bumper will get far sportier.
The final result looks like a vehicle that Ford could build with little effort. The market is ripe for unique and niche products, especially when it comes to trucks. Ford’s own Bronco is proof of this. With a supercharged 5.0-litre V8, the proper suspension components, and other unique touches, a 2021 F-150 Lightning would look perfectly at home in a Ford dealer showroom.
If Ford does decide to reintroduce a Lightning, they could launch it at the same time as the new Raptor and the EV version – the competition would never recover.
