News 2021 Ford Mustang Mach 1 Could Replace Shelby GT350 With 525 HP

2021 Ford Mustang Mach 1 Could Replace Shelby GT350 With 525 HP

The Mach 1 will apparently have just 1 horse less than the Shelby GT350

  • Upcoming Mustang Mach 1 could be a lot more powerful than originally thought

  • Could be a Shelby GT350 replacement with almost identical power

  • Could also take the Mustang Bullitt’s spot in the lineup

With Ford confirming the return of the Mustang Mach 1 last week, there’s been quite a bit of speculation about where the car will fit in the lineup.

Now that reports have surfaced on Ford Authority that the Ford Mustang Mach 1 will have 525 horsepower and 450 pound-feet of torque from a 5.0-litre V8, the question of where it will stand among Mustangs is even more interesting.

The Shelby GT350, for example, may not return next year. The 2021 Ford Mustang Mach 1 coming back from a two-decade hiatus would be a worthy replacement. Especially since it gives up just 1 horsepower to the Shelby GT350’s 526 hp.

The Mustang Mach 1 has always been focused on the track and Ford says this edition won’t be any different. Again another reason why Ford may not see the need for the Shelby GT350 to come back if they have the Mach 1 and the GT500.

It may also be a replacement for the Ford Mustang Bullitt. That said, that would make the top of the Mustang lineup fairly crowded. Ultimately, do you need two cars making almost the same outrageous power?

Having the Bullitt with 480 horsepower, the Mach 1 with 525 horsepower, and the GT500 with 760 horsepower makes more sense, to us at least.

Granted, the 525 horsepower number isn’t confirmed. We’re sure we’ll learn more in the upcoming weeks about the 2021 Mustang Mach 1.
