2022 Genesis G70 Gains Brand’s “Athletic Elegance” Design Philosophy

With its new face, the 2021 Genesis G70 completes the brand’s visual transformation

  • The G70 also gets more features.

  • AWD will be standard in Canada.

  • A new Sport+ drive mode is added too.

The Genesis G70 is a universally appreciated car for its styling, content, and driving abilities. For 2022, this most athletic member of the Genesis family of luxury vehicles is updated with new fascias, both front and rear, as well as a number of new safety and convenience features.

The G70 is the last current model to inherit the Genesis’ design language known as “Athletic Elegance.” Upfront, the brand’s signature Quad Lamps, with super-thin LED lamps, are now included. The way the LEDs stretch outwards towards the fenders is a wink to the Genesis emblem. At the rear, the Quad Lamp taillights and prominent Genesis text are now synonymous with the product.

The cabin is spruced up with a new larger instrument cluster, a 10.25-inch touchscreen display with over-the-air updates, and wireless smartphone charging. Interior acoustics are also improved for an even quieter environment.

Powerplants are unchanged for 2022 however AWD will be a standard feature. This means that the G70 2.0T Sport RWD model with the 6-speed manual transmission is in fact discontinued. To make up for this, Genesis will include a “Sport+” drive mode and, with the twin-turbocharged 3.3-litre V6 model, a new Dynamic AWD System with a built-in drift mode.

The 2022 Genesis G70 goes on sale in Canada later in 2021.
