2021 Mercedes-AMG GT 43 4-Door Coupe is the New Bargain Trim Level

How low can Benz go with this AMG fastback sedan?

  • 2021 Mercedes-AMG GT 43 4-Door Coupe to start at $89,900 in the United States.
  • Equipped with a turbo 3.0L inline-six and 48V mild hybrid system, good for 362 hp and 369 lb.-ft.
  • MBUX infotainment system to be added in all Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe variants for 2021.

A new AMG-tuned variant will hit the U.S. market this year, as the 2021 Mercedes-AMG GT 43 4-Door Coupe has just been announced. The Porsche Panamera rival will go on sale in late 2020.

2021 Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 S 4MATIC+ Coupe Revealed

This new edition of the four-door coupe will be positioned as the entry-level trim in the lineup that currently includes the 429-horsepower, six-cylinder GT 53, the 577-hp twin-turbo V8 GT 63 and the 630-hp GT 63 S. Like all other “43” series models, it’s equipped with a turbocharged, 3.0-litre inline-six engine with EQ Boost 48-volt mild hybrid assistance, good for 362 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque, although the electric motor pitches in another 21 ponies and 184 lb.-ft. at low engine speeds.

The 2021 Mercedes-AMG GT 43 4-Door Coupe also benefits from the brand’s 4MATIC+ all-wheel drivetrain and the AMG SPEEDSHIFT TCT 9G nine-speed automatic transmission, helping it claw its way from 0 to 60 mph (0 to 96 km/h) in 4.8 seconds.

Standard features will reflect what’s already available in the AMG GT 53, such as AMG Ride Control Sport Suspension, silver-painted six-piston front brake callipers, a Burmester surround sound system, a retractable rear spoiler, a power liftgate, a power sunroof, heated front seats as well as the MBUX infotainment system—the latter now being installed across the GT 4-Door Coupe’s variant lineup—and dual 12.3-inch screens.

The cockpit is furnished with black MB-Tex/Dinamica seat upholstery, two individual rear seats, a wide selection of two-tone colour schemes as well as black lacquer, ash wood or carbon fibre accenting. A bevy of options are offered as well, including soft-close doors, heated rear seats, a heated steering wheel, three-zone climate control, head-up display and a heated windshield.

As a reminder, the 2021 Mercedes-AMG GT 43 along with the other 4-Door Coupe variants ride on a different platform than the two-door Mercedes-AMG GT coupe and roadster—which are powered exclusively by the twin-turbo, 4.0L V8 in various output levels.

Pricing will start at $89,900, excluding the $1,050 destination and delivery charge, for the 2021 Mercedes-AMG GT 43 4-Door Coupe in the United States. This new AMG edition has not yet been confirmed for Canada.
