2021 Nissan Armada Is Updated And Upgraded

The Nissan Armada returns in 2021 more luxurious and refined than ever


  • The exterior gets new front- and rear-end treatments.

  • The Interior layout is beautifully upgraded.

  • The 5.6-litre V8 now makes 400 horsepower.


The Nissan Armada was introduced back in 2003 for the 2004 model year. Back then, it was known as the Pathfinder Armada but it quickly gained a following and was granted its own identity independent of the Pathfinder. The 2nd-generation Armada launched for 2016 and has now been renewed for 2021.

The big news for the full-size SUV is the new centre stack which not only looks more premium but it’s also far more advanced. Standard for 2021 is a new 12.3-inch touchscreen display with NissanConnect, wireless Apple CarPlay (wired Android Auto), a Wi-Fi hotspot, wireless charging, and more.

The console’s layout is simpler and more user friendly with fewer buttons. At the very bottom are located USB and USB-C plugs for a very clean look. Also included for 2021 is a 7-inch driver-assist display. The interior offers seating for eight while Captain chairs are optional. Leather is standard and quilted leather is included with the top-line Platinum trim.

Returning for active duty under the 2021 Nissan Armada’s bonnet is the 5.6-litre Endurance V8. With a few tweaks and when using premium fuel, the V8 will produce 400 horsepower (or back to 390 on regular fuel). Torque remains a very potent 413 lb.-ft. enabling the Armada to tow up to 8,500 lbs. Also new for 2021 are a Trailer Brake Controller and Trailer Sway Control – two useful features when exploiting towing capacity.

Visually, the Armada SUV lands a cleaner more upscale front fascia with a new grille, lights, bumper, hood, and fenders. Adorning the grille are Nissan’s new logos – this is the first Nissan vehicle to sport them. The rear also gains a new bumper and light combinations. The SL continues to roll on 20-inch alloys while the Platinum gets new 22-inch units.

As for safety equipment, the 2021 Nissan Armada now features Nissan Safety Shield as standard as well as Intelligent forward collision, lane and blind spot intervention.

The updated 2021 Nissan Armada goes on sale in January 2021 in Canada.
