The Ram 1500 TRX will be a performance-focused off-road pickup.
It is expected to be powered by the supercharged Hellcat 6.2-litre V8.
The 2020 calendar year is shaping up to be quite the year of the truck. FCA’s Ram truck division wants in on the action and few trucks will take as big a bite out of the full-size pickup segment as the anticipated 2021 Ram 1500 TRX.
If you’re wondering why we’re using “prehistoric” and “bite” to describe the Ram 1500 TRX, that’s because it, the TRX, or “T-Rex”, will tackle head-on the current established super-truck that is the Ford F-150 Raptor.
From what we know, FCA won’t mess about with the 1500 TRX. It is said that it will be powered by none other than the 700+ horsepower supercharged 6.2-litre Hellcat V8 engine. With little doubt, and based on the 2016 Ram Rebel TRX concept, the production version of the truck will be equipped for serious action.
We expect to see large wheels and tires, skid-plates, decals, roof-lights, and the most aggressive and possibly frightening front grille to ever be worn by a production vehicle. As well, the cabin will surely get unique trims, accents, and badges to celebrate the most badass Ram truck ever built.
We’ll see it all for the first time on Monday, August 17 at noon EDT (9 a.m. PDT). The reveal event can be followed at www.facebook.com/RamTrucks and www.youtube.com/RamTrucks.
