2022 Chevrolet Silverado HD Gets Multi-Flex Tailgate

Silverado gets flex

  • Flexible tailgate debuted on Sierra

  • Is already on 1500 level Silverado models

The MultiPro flexible adaptable tailgate that debuted on the latest version of the GMC Sierra is arriving to the Chevrolet Silverado HD for 2022. It will be an option on the 2500 and 3500 HD models with a new name, expanding the availability of the handy tailgate option.

Called Multi-Flex for Chevrolet applications, a rose by any other name still smells so sweet. Or in this case versatile. The tailgate offers multiple ways to open it and fold the various sections for a total of six different useful functional settings.

While the photos do the tailgate the best justice, modes that you can use include a stand-up workstation, use a pop-up flap as a load stop when you have the tailgate opened, hold 4×8 sheets of building materials on the wheel arches and supported by the partially opened tailgate, open the dropping flap with the tailgate open to help reach farther into the pickup box, or lower everything and use the attached handle to give you a handy step up into the box. Of course, it works like a normal tailgate for open and closed as well.

Multi-Flex will be an option on all 2022 Silverado HD models, and Chevrolet will continue to offer the class-exclusive power up/down tailgate on LT, LTZ, and High Country trucks. It doesn’t appear that a power closing version of the Multi-Flex will be offered. A new shade of green will also be offered by Chevrolet on the trucks, but the tailgate will likely see more interest from customers when the 2022 Silverado HD arrives this summer.
