2022 Ford F-150 Lightning Orders Likely Not to Start this Month

Though the October 26th date was never confirmed, it seems as though potential Ford F-150 Lightning may have to wait many more months before placing an order

  • It was rumoured that the order books for the anticipated F-150 Lightning were to begin on October 26th.

  • Orders may not be taken until early 2022.

  • So far, Ford has over 150,000 reservations for the Lightning.

Although pre-production of the hotly anticipated 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning began midway through this past September, it might be months before buyers get to place an official order for the EV.

Only a few weeks ago, it was rumoured that the order books for the Ford F-150 Lightning were opening on October 26th. That date may have been extremely optimistic as the latest information, as shared by CarBuzz, seems to indicate that orders won’t begin until later this year or perhaps as late as the beginning of next year.

Ford Doubling Lightning Pickup Production: Report

Let’s not forget that interest in the fully electric Ford F-150 Lightning pickup is massive. In fact, so strong is it that Ford’s had no choice but to double its initial production plans. For this, Ford’s thrown in an extra $250 million and created 450 more jobs to meet the expected demand.

Interestingly, the vast majority of 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning reservation holders are new customers to the Blue Oval. This is very good news for Ford.
