Genesis’ lineup design refresh is now complete with new 2022 Genesis G70
Entry-level luxury sedan takes the same design language as the new Genesis G80 and GV80 SUV
Will go on sale in North America next year
The new 2022 Genesis G70 unveiled yesterday takes the new Athletic Elegance design language of its larger brothers, and wears it just as well.
Following the redesign of the Genesis G80 earlier this year and the introduction of the GV80 luxury SUV, Genesis is now turning its attention to the 2022 G70.
The brand’s refreshed entry-level model will go on sale next year with a new exterior design featuring the Genesis trademark dual horizontal bar LED headlights and taillights. A deep, imposing crest grille up front, aggressive air intakes, and large dual oval tailpipes in the back are other highlights of the new design.
Inside, a new 10.25-inch infotainment screen is now standard on the 2022 Genesis G70 with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The infotainment system will be compatible with over-the-air updates. The wireless charging pad is now horizontal and can fit larger phones.
In Canada, the G70 will come standard with all-wheel drive. Genesis also pulled the plug on the manual gearbox option, not that should surprise anyone.
The engine lineup should duplicate what is available on the G80 sedan meaning a base 2.5-litre turbocharged inline-four with 290 horsepower. A twin-turbo 3.5-litre V6 with 365 horsepower could also be offered as a competitor to the BMW M340i, the Acura TLX Type S, the Mercedes-AMG C43, the Audi S4 and the new Cadillac CT5-V.
Pricing hasn’t been announced yet.
