Upcoming Jeep Grand Wagoneer will be Jeep’s most upscale product ever
2022 Grand Wagoneer expected to debut this year
Will be built on the same platform as the Ram 1500
Jeep is getting ready to take the wraps off two new models in the near future, the Jeep Wagoneer and the Jeep Grand Wagoneer. In the process, Jeep will be bringing back to life two of its most iconic nameplates.
As the Grand Wagoneer reveal inches closer, or at least we suspect it’s coming, information about Jeep’s new flagship SUV is starting to filter through. Mopar Insiders is reporting that sources have confirmed the Grand Wagoneer’s ultra luxury status.
Reports have surfaced in the past that the GW could target the Cadillac Escalade and the Lincoln Navigator in its highest trim, but even the base model will pack plenty of luxury goodies. It’s even possible that the top-of-the-line model tops $100,000 US.
Still according to Mopar Insiders, the 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer will offer a 12-inch touchscreen housing the Uconnect5 infotainment system. More impressive is the rumor that there will be a smaller, passenger-side infotainment screen. A version of the Uconnect Theatre system in the Chrysler Pacifica is also planned. There will be an advanced head-up display system coming to Jeep models in 2022 as well.
Again, Jeep wants to make the Grand Wagoneer the most luxurious product it has ever built, a title currently held by the Ram 1500 Longhorn. That means you can expect premium leather, wood, and metals inside.
Advanced driving assistance technologies rivaling Cadillac’s SuperCruise system are said to be in the works. That means Level 3 autonomous driving capabilities that can control the vehicle on the highway with little to no driver input.
As for what’s under the hood, Jeep hasn’t said much. They haven’t said much about the new Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer overall, really. Still, more reports are saying we can expect a plug-in hybrid version as well as a V8 HEMI.
