News 2022 Kia EV6 EPA Range Numbers Released

2022 Kia EV6 EPA Range Numbers Released

  • The 2022 Kia EV6 EPA range numbers are out

  • Base Kia EV6 to offer 373 kilometres (232 miles) of range

  • Long Range RWD model to top the lineup at 499 kilometres (310 miles)

The 2022 Kia EV6 is rated at 373 kilometres of range (232 miles) in its base version while the RWD and AWD Long Range trims deliver 499 kilometres 310 miles and 441 kilometres (274 miles) of range respectively.

The EPA didn’t release range numbers for the 2022 Kia EV6 First Edition which is a Long Range AWD trim, but it should be slightly less than 441 kilometres given its larger wheels. Granted, the EPA didn’t divulge the wheel sizes for the trims tested above and we aren’t yet sure what Kia has planned in that area.

Still, the most popular model is sure to be the Long Range AWD trim here in Canada, and 441 kilometres is more than enough for most buyers. This model along with the Long Range RWD features a 77.4 kWh battery while the base EV6 RWD is powered by a 58-kWh battery.

The 2022 Kia EV6 range numbers surpass the Hyundai IONIQ 5 which offers 412 kilometres (256 miles) in its AWD, long range version. The most range you can get out of the IONIQ 5 is 488 kilometres (303 miles) while the base model offers 354 kilometres (220 miles).

Both the EV6 and IONIQ 5 share the same powertrain options, the difference in range coming from the more aerodynamic profile of the EV6.

The new Kia EV6 will offer 167 horsepower from its single motor powering the rear axle in its base model while the more powerful RWD Long Range features a 218-horsepower electric motor on the rear axle.

The AWD Long Range version delivers 313 horsepower, good enough to reach 100 km/h in just over 5.0 seconds (0-60 mph in 5.1 seconds).

No word yet on the range of the top-of-the-line 2022 Kia EV6 GT which will boast 576 horsepower and a 0-60 mph time of under 3.5 seconds.
