The all-new WRX arrives early next month
Expected to have more power, more chassis, still a stick
Subaru had planned to reveal an all-new WRX at the New York International Auto Show, but just days ahead of that event, set for last week, the show was cancelled over pandemic concerns. What is the plan now for the 2022 Subaru WRX? Mark September 10th on your calendar.
It’s an interesting date for Subaru to pick, coming just days after the bustle of reveals that will be the IAA show in Munich, which is still, at least today, set to happen September 6th. Subaru teased the new model a few weeks back, and now the launch date for the rally monster is official.
We’re still only getting a slight glimpse of the car, shrouded in a cloud of computer-enhanced dust. What we can see is a bright orange paint job, a greenhouse that looks not much changed from the current car, and what look to be some extremely wide rear fenders.

The 2022 WRX will arrive just days after the Forester Wilderness, making it a busy time for the brand and showing off two vehicles that could not be much more different in their roles.
Previous teasers of the car have shown a six-speed manual transmission, a redline just above 6,000 rpm, and body details like a large grille and hood scoop along with dual exhaust.
Will the 2022 Subaru WRX reveal come with the STI model at the same time? We’ll have to wait and see on that one, but at least now it won’t be long.
