2022 Toyota RAV4 Gets SE Hybrid, Feature and Appearance Updates

Toyota makes small changes to mark 25 years of RAV4

  • 2022 Toyota RAV4 marks 25 years of model in Canada

  • Following its usual slow and steady course, small but useful upgrades for 2022

It’s been 25 years since Toyota introduced the RAV4 to Canadians. What are they doing to celebrate? How about a new SE trim hybrid, some new LED fog lights, and a few other small cosmetic changes for the 2022 Toyota RAV4? It’s nothing big, but that’s the way Toyota, and hundreds of thousands of Canadian car buyers, like it.

The new model is an SE Hybrid trim that gives buyers wanting the fuel-efficient model with some of the XSE’s sportier appearance options but without that model’s higher price. It won’t get a two-tone roof, but it will have special fabric seats along with a heated leather wheel, heated front seats, and rain-sensing wipers. It will have the XSE grille, black accents, and black-painted wheels. XSE models add a new Cavalry Blue paint with black roof plus they’ll get the vertical LED taillights that first launched on the XSE Prime last year.

Wheel designs are updated with new paint on LE Hybrid, and both XLE models as well as Trail, while the Hybrid XLE, Limited, and XSE get a new wheel design. Limited, Trail, and TRD Off Road get new LED fog lights while 2022 RAV4 in XLE and higher have updated headlamps that Toyota says improve their capability rather than just adding style.

Inside, all trims get a locking glove box and LED interior lighting, while XLE and up add illuminated switches. Limited adds an eight-way power passenger seat adjustment. More details about the 2022 Toyota RAV4 come next month, including pricing.
