Dealers issued a stop-sale order on AWD versions.
The issue may cause the Taos to shut off while in operation.
The all-new 2022 Volkswagen Taos has already been well received both in Canada and the USA. As the unofficially official replacement for the compact Golf, the Taos does bring a relatively high level of utility as well as the optional 4MOTION AWD system. And it would seem that it’s a problem as VW has issued a stop-sale order on those models.
2022 Volkswagen Taos First Drive Review: Stuck in the middle
The FWD versions of the all-new 2022 Volkswagen Taos are not affected by this stop-sale order from VWoA. The as-of-yet undiagnosed problem is limited to the AWD versions where some owners have reported their Taos shutting while in use, more specifically when coming to a stop. So far, no injuries or accidents have been recounted in relation to this issue.
Automotive News Europe reports that Mark Gillies, a spokesman for VW, confirmed that VW dealers have been informed of the issue. He added that the German company “is now following the required NHTSA reporting time frame.” He said he was unaware of any injuries related to the unexpected shutdowns.
