It will look similar to the EV6 and the new Sportage
It will still be an electric or hybrid SUV
It will be unveiled at Seoul’s mobility show
Kia has been making news lately by frequently unveiling new models, After the EV6, the 2023 Sportage and the EV9 concept, the next model to be introduced will be the second-generation of the Niro.
The Niro is an eco-friendly compact SUV that has been on Canadian roads since 2017 in its current form.
A total renewal is planned for 2023 and it is this new model that will be unveiled on November 25, at the Seoul Mobility Show in South Korea.
Kia has released images that give a taste of the vehicle, without revealing too much about its appearance.
Still, we can see that the designers were inspired by the HabaNiro concept that was first shown in 2019.
The front headlights appear to be separate, with a light strip that joins both sides of the vehicle and a line that follows a distinctive pattern placed underneath that strip on each side.
At the rear, the lights are arranged along the window, starting from the roof and going down to the middle of the trunk in a boomerang shape, not unlike Volvo’s station wagons.
The interior looks very similar to the EV6’s with its two side-by-side screens, one for the instrumentation and one for the infotainment system. A rotary gear selector is also visible, a detail shared with several Kia models.
On the mechanical side, nothing has been revealed yet, but it’s likely that this new generation will be faithful to the Niro’s current role, meaning it will probably be available with a hybrid powertrain, possibly plug-in, and a fully electric one.
