Sportage PHEV offers 55 km EV range
Two well-equipped trim levels available
Kia’s plug-in Sportage is set to arrive at dealers in Canada this fall. The entry point for the PHEV of Kia‘s sized-up Sportage will be $44,995 for an EX Premium trim with all-wheel drive.
The Kia Sportage was all-new for 2023, and launched with a 2.5L gas engine and conventional hybrid power option. The plug-in hybrid took a few months longer but will likely be worth the wait.
We mean that for drivers wanting more power from their compact crossover, not just those wanting to save fuel. With 261 hp and 258 lb-ft, this is the most powerful version of the Sportage by a significant amount. Offering 55 km of all-electric range followed by estimated fuel consumption of 6.7 L/100 km, it’s also the thriftiest at the pumps.
The starting price of $44,995 represents a jump of $7,400 over the gas EX Premium trim, though provincial and federal green vehicle incentives should narrow the gap significantly.
A loaded SX trim is also available, starting from $48,395.
“Offering a plug-in hybrid option in one of our brand’s most popular models is a true turning point for our electrified future,” says Elias El-Achhab, Chief Operating Officer at Kia Canada.
Heated seats and wheel come standard, along with cooled front seats. Driver assistance features include Kia’s Smart Cruise Control, lane keep assist, lane follow assist, blind spot collision avoidance, and front and rear parking sensors.
