This confirms many things about the once-rumoured hybrid Corvette.
One is the name.
Two, it’s not a plug-in hybrid.
This could be considered a mistake but only a few weeks away from 2023, and given the changing nature of “marketing”, we’re pretty sure that the 2024 Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray’s configurator going live online for a few hours isn’t a mistake.
What it is however is a confirmation that the first-ever production electrified Corvette is on the way for the 2024 model year. What this “gaffe” also does is reveal the Corvette E-Ray’s styling. In short, it’s a Z06 body style and all however it does away with contrasting highlights. Based on the images, the E-Ray Vettes are monochromatic and available in a number of new colours including Riptide Blue.
There are two images in the set that clearly depict the E-Ray’s cabin. For the most part, it’s all C8 Corvette business with the exception of two buttons located on the center console for the regenerative braking system and the automatic Stop/Start feature. Interior colours selections are mostly normal, save for Artemis, and there’s an E-Ray badge included in the car’s flat-bottom steering wheel.
Finally, it seems clear that this 2024 Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray is a hybrid and not a plug-in hybrid. Even so, we know that the E-Ray will feature a pair of electric motors up front for a potential 600+hp output when combined with the 6.2L V8 engine. Yes, the first electrified Vette will also be the first AWD Vette ever. Performance should be exceptional as it appears that carbon-ceramic brakes will be standard. However, this might only be the tip of the hybrid iceberg as the rumoured Zora, which could get PHEV technology, could offer 1,000+hp according to CarBuzz.
GM and Chevrolet have huge plans for the Corvette family. As we know, it will be turned into a sub-brand in the near future.
