Old-style off-roader arrives here next year
Luxury and capability starts from $91,929
Ineos has just revealed pricing for its Defender-like off-road SUV. The tough and rugged Ineos Grenadier will start from $71,500 in the U.S. and $91,929 in Canada, expected to start deliveries around the end of the year.
The Grenadier started as an effort to continue the old Land Rover Defender and quickly morphed into more than just the same old. The company designed an all-new model to do the job, with a boxy body, steel ladder chassis, and rugged hardware.
The engine and transmission come from BMW, which provided a 3.0L twin-turbo inline-six and eight-speed automatic. Ineos says the eight-speed has been upgraded and all models come with 4×4 and a two-speed transfer case.
Grenadier’s basic Station Wagon trim is the entry point. It comes standard with front park assist, heated mirrors and windscreen, and a locking storage box. The infotainment system comes from BMW, though Ineos uses its own switchgear for most functions.
Next up the line is the Trialmaster. It is named for the Belstaff Trialmaster jacket (the Grenadier itself is named for its creator’s favourite pub), which was designed to cope with extreme conditions in Scotland. The $101,219 model comes with electronic front and rear differential locks, BFG all-terrain tires, and kit like an auxiliary battery, raised air intake, and exterior storage.
Fieldmaster is named for yet another Belstaff jacket. This one is the luxury model and includes leather upholstery, Safari windows, floor mats, and heated front seats. It is the same price as the Trialmaster, $101,219.
Ineos has loads of options including paint and upgraded leather. There will be winch and tow options, power plugs, and rock sliders, with loads more for almost any activity.
Pre-orders go live on May 31st. The list of dealers will be announced in August, and buyers can finalize their orders then. Deliveries are set to start in Q1 of 2024 for Canadian buyers.
