Full lineup of electrified powertrains

The 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLE will be offered in GLE 350 4Matic and GLE 450 4Matic trims. Both models feature a 48-volt mild-hybrid technology and an integrated starter generator. The GLE 350 4Matic continues to be powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine that provides 255 hp and 295 pound-feet of torque, compared to 273 pound-feet of torque in the current GLE. It reaches 100 km/h in 7.1 seconds.

The 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLE 450 4Matic features a 3.0-litre, turbocharged six-cylinder powertrain with 375 hp and 369 pound-feet of torque. The current GLE delivers 362 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque. The 2024 GLE 450 4MATIC will reach 100 km/h in 5.6 seconds.

Both models will offer 3,500 kg of towing capacity or 7,700 pounds.

2024 Mercedes-AMG GLE Powertrain Improvements

The new 2024 Mercedes-AMG GLE 53 4MATIC+ has also received its share of improvements, starting under the hood. Still powered by a 3.0-litre inline-six powertrain, the GLE 53 will offer the same horsepower (429 hp) with a considerable improvement in torque, going from 384 pound-feet to 413.

This will result in a quicker 0-100 km/h time of 5.0 seconds instead of 5.3 for the current model. The powertrain inside the Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 S 4MATIC+ will continue to develop 603 horsepower from its twin-turbo V8, pushing the flagship AMG GLE SUV to 100 km/h in under 4.0 seconds. Both engines also get mild-hybrid electrification.

Revised exterior and interior for the 2024 GLE

The 2024 GLE will receive an updated exterior featuring a new front bumper and a front fascia with new chrome inserts running through the radiator grill as well as the outer air intakes. LED headlights will be standard with optional multibeam LEDs.

There will be an optional AMG Line package with a Mercedes-Benz diamond grill and a more aggressive front bumper and side sills. The model will also offer new colours, including Alpine Grey solid. Wheels will range in size from 20 inches to 22 inches, and there is a new ambient lighting package with animated projection.

The exterior of the AMG GLE 53 gets some visual tweaks as well, including newly designed LED daytime running lights and a revised front apron featuring expressively shaped side air intakes in a jet-wing design, the goal being of making the 53 look even more like its more powerful 63 brother. The same new exterior colors are available.

Inside, the new GLE gets the latest Mercedes-Benz steering wheel we have seen on other models, with touch commands on the dual horizontal spokes. The air vents get a new chrome look, and there are also new interior colours, including beige/black and brown/black combinations. Two new USB ports are also offered and are located in the rear armrest.

Mercedes-Benz is also adding the latest generation of the MBUX infotainment system. It will be housed in a 12.3-inch centre touchscreen which pairs with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. The layout is identical to the current GLE, but the system now features wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The new MBUX system brings improved voice command functionality with enhanced interactivity and artificial intelligence that allows the system to adapt and learn based on how the user interacts with the system. The Mercedes-Benz User Experience system will also continuously evolve thanks to over-the-air updates.

The Mercedes-AMG GLE 53 4MATIC+ will build upon the features it already offers including an electric panoramic sliding sunroof, heated front seats, Adaptive Highbeam Assist.  The optional AMG Performance exhaust system Burmester sound system, Memory Package, 360-degree Parking Pilot, KEYLESS-GO Package and Blind Spot Assist are also offered. To top it off, the GLE 53 comes with the latest generation AMG Performance wheel with the same touch controls found in the 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLE 350 4MATIC and GLE 450 4MATIC.

New Off-Road mode

The infotainment system will also provide drivers with off-road data thanks to the new Off-Road mode. Variables such as gradient, roll angle, and steering angle will now be displayed. The new GLE also gets the transparent engine hood function that was also announced on the upcoming 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLC. This unique camera angle provides a virtual view from a camera located underneath the GLE, giving drivers a clearer view of what lies ahead on the centre display.

More safety features

Last but not least, the 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLE receives an upgraded driving assistance package with more functionality. The GLE will offer active distance assist, active steering assist, and traffic sign assist.

The 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLE will arrive on the market this summer. Pricing will be announced closer to launch.
