  • The 2024 Montreal Electric Vehicle Show provides test drives of 80 EVs through April 21.

  • Attendees must reserve test drives on-site with a valid license; includes luxury and popular models.

  • Features include 69 displayed models, educational conferences, and micromobility test tracks.

The 2024 Montreal Electric Vehicle Show (MEVS) kicked off Friday at the Olympic Stadium, giving attendees a unique opportunity to get behind the wheel of the latest electric vehicles (EVs) from major automakers. Running through Sunday, the show allows visitors to test drive an impressive 80 different EV models on roads around the venue.

Now in its 7th year, the MEVS has grown to become an important event showcasing the rapid expansion of the electric car market in recent years. Consumers are increasingly turning to EVs as concerns over emissions and climate change drive demand.

To participate in the test drives, attendees simply need to make reservations on-site at the Olympic Stadium, presenting a valid driver’s license. A time slot system assigns drives in each model depending on availability.

Some of the highlights among the 80 cars available for road tests include popular models like the new Tesla Model 3, Ford F-150 Lightning pickup, BMW i4 M50, Cadillac LYRIQ, Kia EV9, Hyundai IONIQ 6, and the Chevrolet Blazer. The complete list can be found on the Show’s website.

In addition to the test drive fleet, the MEVS exhibition halls display a total of 69 electric models across categories like sedans, SUVs, trucks, luxury vehicles, and more. A number of plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) are also on show.

While test drives and the exhibitor space are the main draw, the three-day event features a full slate of activities and attractions. These include indoor test tracks for electric bikes, scooters, and other “micromobility” vehicles, as well as educational conferences from EV experts and advocates.

Organizers have seen steady growth in attendance at MEVS since its launch in 2018. Last year’s event drew over 32,000 visitors and saw nearly 2,500 test drives conducted – illustrating the rising consumer interest in EVs.

The 2024 Montreal Electric Vehicle Show runs daily through April 21 at the Olympic Stadium. Tickets are available online or at the venue for $16.
