The introductory 2024 Polestar 2, now equipped with a rear-wheel drive powertrain powered by a new 220-kilowatt electric motor (replacing the outgoing 170-kW motor), translates into improved performance. The acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h now takes merely 5.9 seconds, as opposed to the prior 7.0 seconds. This change aligns with an efficiency upgrade as well.

A noteworthy alteration lies in the employment of an 82-kilowatt-hour battery, enhancing energy capacity. This augmentation results in improved charging capabilities, enabling a 10-80 percent recharge in 28 minutes at up to 205 kilowatts, in comparison to the 35 minutes at up to 155 kW available in the 2023 model year.

The amalgamation of a larger battery and a more efficient electric motor allows the base Polestar 2 to enter the 480+ kilometer range territory for the first time. The EPA Combined range for the 19-inch wheel version reaches 512 kilometers, a notable 80 kilometers or 18.5 percent increase over the previous 432 miles.

For the Dual Motor configuration of the all-wheel drive Polestar 2, a newly integrated powertrain with up to 310 kW power output enhances acceleration performance, now reaching 0-100 km/h in 4.3 seconds, compared to the previous 4.5 seconds.

While the battery pack remains unchanged at 78 kilowatt-hours, the Dual Motor Polestar 2 demonstrates a 26-kilometer or 6.2 percent range increase, reaching an EPA Combined range of 442 kilometers. Opting for the 20-inch wheels reduces the range slightly to 426 kilometers.
The flagship 2024 Polestar 2 LR Dual Motor with the Performance pack option showcases a 335-kW powertrain, leading to quicker acceleration of 0-100 km/h in 4.1 seconds, compared to the prior 4.2 seconds.
While efficiency and range remain stable due to the retention of the 78-kWh battery pack, the 2024 Polestar 2 introduces improved attributes that solidify its competitive position, particularly in the realm of rear-wheel-drive versions.
