Subtle exterior updates keep Velar fresh
New floating screen and more modern guts for Pivi Pro infotainment
The Range Rover Velar is getting a refresh for 2024. New lights and a new infotainment system are the most obvious changes, but there are some cool tweaks like available wool fabrics and OTA software updates.
At both the front and rear you’ll find thinner lamps. Land Rover says the new units have a more jewel-like look, while there is a tiny tweak to the lower rear bumper as well. The designers call it part of the vehicle’s “reductive design philosophy.”
The bigger change is in the cabin where there is a new single 11.4-inch center screen. The curved screen wraps slightly around the dashboard layout and is visually floating above the dash. Land Rover says the screen’s position makes it easier to see and should help minimize reflections.
Behind the screen is hardware more like the Range Rover and RR Sport. Like in those models, the new interface is designed to make the 2024 Velar easier to use. 80 percent of available functions are just two screen taps away. The system offers OTA updates, has CarPlay and Android Auto, and will now offer Amazon Alexa and what3words navigation.
Danish textile company Kvadrat is supplying a new material for the 2024 Range Rover Velar. There are wool blends as well as plastic-based textiles and the perforations get a new diamond herringbone perforation. Land Rover says the textiles are lighter than leather and offer a more contemporary luxury feel.
The Meridian audio system gets an update to add active road noise cancellation. Land Rover says this makes the 2024 Velar the quietest vehicle in its class for road noise.
The 2024 Range Rover Velar is available to order now and should arrive at dealers later this year.
