In 2019, Tesla wowed the public by unveiling a prototype of the Cybertruck, a 100% electric pickup truck. Four years later, the production model finally sees the light of day.
The Tesla Cybertruck promises a range of 547 kilometres.
It can tow a load of up to 4,990 kilograms.
Its base price is $49,890 for the American market.
What are the features of the Tesla Cybertruck 2024?
The Tesla Cybertruck has nothing in common with traditional vans. Not only is its silhouette unusual, it’s also unpainted. Its body is made of stainless steel. It also boasts a fully glazed roof.
Its windows are also claimed to be highly resistant. The manufacturer claims that they can withstand the impact of a baseball thrown at 112 km/h.
In terms of capacity, the Cybertruck can carry a load of up to 1134 kilograms in its body. It can tow a trailer or caravan weighing up to 4990 kilograms. Its body measures 4 feet X 6 feet. So, with the tailgate open, it’s easy to imagine transporting construction materials measuring 4 feet X 8 feet. Interestingly, the rear body can also accommodate a two-person camping tent.
Storage space is plentiful. The space under the front hood is one of them. By folding the rear bench, you can obtain a load volume of 1,530 liters.
An 18.5-inch touchscreen is located in the center of the front fascia. In the rear, passengers can enjoy a 9.4-inch touchscreen. It can accommodate a maximum of five occupants.
The Tesla Cybertruck can also be used as a generator if required, thanks to its 120 and 240 V sockets.
What engines are available with the Tesla Cybertruck 2024?
In terms of range, Tesla promises up to 547 kilometers on a single charge. A 15-minute stop at a Supercharger station stores enough energy to give you a range of 235 kilometers.
The Tesla Cybertruck will be equipped with a 123 kWh battery. A twin-motor version, called All-Wheel Drive, is also available. It generates 600 horsepower. A three-motor version is also available. Called Cyberbeast, it develops 845 hp. A third version powered by a single engine is planned.
It should be noted that the rear axle is directional to enhance maneuverability. When Beast mode is activated, it takes just 2.7 seconds to reach 100 km/h from a standstill.
When will it hit the market?
In the US, Tesla has begun delivering the first examples of the Cybertruck. In Canada, we predict that the first Tesla Cybertruck deliveries will take place within the next year.
How much will it cost?
In the USA, the Tesla Cybertruck starts at an estimated price of US$49,890. The price rises to US$68,890 for an All-Wheel Drive version and US$96,390 for a Cyberbeast version.
For the Canadian market, we feel justified in estimating a base price of around $67,565.
What do we think of the Tesla Cybertruck 2024?
Tesla revolutionized the automotive industry by introducing the Model S to the market a decade ago. It forced carmakers to follow suit in the electrification of transport.
With this new model in the range, Tesla is about to start a revolution in the pickup truck market. Having developed a solid reputation in the world of electric cars, Tesla will now have the challenge of building up its expertise in the world of pickup trucks. Ford already markets the F-150 Lightning, as do Rivian and the R1T. So, this time, Tesla is not the first manufacturer to land with a first electric model in the segment.
Technically speaking, the Tesla Cybertuck has everything to impress. During the presentation, emphasis was placed on the vehicle’s versatility and the many possibilities it offers for leisure activities. Given that vans are often used as work tools, it will be interesting to see how it performs when towing or on a construction site.
