2025 Honda Civic Hybrid Production Starts in Ontario

Honda is now building the 2025 Civic Hybrid

  • Honda Alliston builds Civic, CR-V

  • 60 percent of Canadian sales expected to be the hybrid

Honda has started building the Civic Hybrid in Canada. Production of the first 2025 Civic Hybrids has begun at the Alliston, Ontario plant, marking the first time for the Honda Civic Hybrid to be built in Canada.

It’s the end result of a $1.38 billion investment Honda made in Canadian manufacturing beginning in 2022. The plant is now the lead North American facility for the CR-V and Civic Hybrid models.

“Honda of Canada Manufacturing is a proud, Canadian innovation story that invests strategically in technology and its associates on the path to electrification,” said Jean Marc Leclerc, President and CEO of Honda Canada Inc. “Companies like Honda face much complexity and many challenges as we evolve and transition our business to an electrified future. We’ve accomplished a great deal so far, but we have more to do to have battery-electric and fuel cell electric vehicles represent 100 per cent of our North American vehicle sales by 2040.

Both of Honda Canada Manufacturing’s production lines in Alliston are now capable of building hybrid vehicles. Honda expects the Civic Hybrid to make up 60 percent of Civic sales in this country. Honda is also looking at building an EV battery plant in Alliston to construct cells for its upcoming EVs.
