2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 Getting More Range, Rear Wiper

Hyundai EV gets updates

  • Ioniq 5 updates solves one of the EV’s biggest complaints

  • Reinforced chassis for less noise and vibration

Hyundai is updating the Ioniq 5 EV. The automaker’s home office has revealed the car’s updates for 2025 includeing a larger battery for more range and, crucially, a new windshield wiper for the rear of the car.

The 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 will get some slight exterior changes. New bumpers front and rear and a new upper trim piece change the look just slightly. They also stick out further than before, making the Ioniq 5 20 mm longer than it was. Other changes include new wheel options and a larger rear spoiler.

Hyundai has also updated the interior with a new custom button on the center console, a relocated wireless charge pad, and a new steering wheel that has interactive pixel lights. The car’s cabin software gets new connected features, and Hyundai is upgrading the driver assists.

There are more substantial changes under the skin, though. Hyundai has stiffened the chassis to reduce vibration, with reinforcements to the cowl, rear wheel area, and underneath. The doors and B-Pillars have been reinforced for better side impact protection, and the whole Ioniq 5 should be quieter than before.

A new high-capacity battery should offer more range. The pack has been upgraded from 77.4 kWh to 84 kWh. The company didn’t say how many more miles to expect, but it should be significant.

While the company didn’t mention it in their press release, the rear wiper is clearly visible in Hyundai’s photos. The lack of a rear wiper has been a big criticism toward the EV, since that back glass can get covered in a hurry in bad weather.

The last major change is the addition of a new Ioniq 5 N Line. It won’t have the full N performance, but it will have a sportier front and rear design. IT will also have 20-inch wheels, and an N Line dashb oard and steering wheel with sports seats and contrast stitching.

Hyundai said that the updated Ioniq 5 models will go on sale in Korea this month and be introduced to the rest of the world throughout the year.
