2025 Infiniti QX80: A New Look for the Tough Guy

The new 2025 Infiniti QX80 ditches the V8 in favour of a turbocharged V6.

A few days after its official unveiling, the 2025 Infiniti QX80 is presented at the New York Auto Show.

On the sidelines of this event, Motor Illustrated had privileged access to an example of the third generation of this full-size luxury SUV.

  • The Infiniti QX80 2025 is powered by a 3.5L turbocharged V6.

  • It starts at $104,995.

  • The new QX80 includes integrated Google technology.

After seeing a few prototypes and shots of the QX80’s future over the past few months, the Infiniti brand has finally gone ahead and lifted the veil on the next-generation model.

Stylistically, the 2025 QX80 retains the same spirit as the outgoing model. However, particular attention has been paid to the design of the headlamps and lights. These feature no fewer than 300 LED lights. The manufacturer has also enhanced the model’s appearance with a two-tone paint finish.

Under the hood, the former 5.6-liter V8 engine is replaced by a 3.5-liter turbocharged V6. This engine develops 450 hp and 515 lb-ft of torque. It is mated to a nine-speed stepped automatic transmission.

The 2025 Infiniti QX80 is equipped with an electronic air suspension. Among other things, this allows the vehicle to be lowered by three inches for easier on-board access. To optimize the drag coefficient of this full-size SUV, the vehicle can be lowered by 2.1 inches while driving.

Fuel consumption figures have not yet been released.

As you can see from the photos, the interior features digital instrumentation and a touch screen. The latter includes integrated Google technology, such as Google Play and Google Maps. This is a first for the automaker. The system is also compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto wirelessly as standard.

Other technologies include a wide-angle front view and virtual transparent hood. These features are designed to make the QX80 easier to drive.

Infiniti also offers biometric cooling as an option. In other words, cool air can be directed to a passenger in the second row of seats if the system detects that one of the passengers is hot. Also as an option, the Japanese luxury carmaker offers a 24-speaker Klipsch sound system.

Infiniti claims to have fine-tuned soundproofing and insulation to enhance the experience on board the QX80.
