2025 Land Rover Defender Gets Swanky New Captain’s Chairs

Defender 130 passengers? Get ready to get comfier

  • New Second-Row captain’s chairs for 130

  • Simplified option packs for easier ordering

For 2025, the Land Rover Defender will receive some simplifications and comfort upgrades. However, it will not receive the V8 engines that Land Rover is putting under the hood in Europe.

The 2025 Defender 130, the longer of the three-row models, will now offer new second-row seats. The optional captain’s chairs are heated and cooled, with individual armrests for each of the two occupants. The new chairs also leave an aisle between them where the third-row passenger can stretch their legs.

Instead of prior years, where many of the vehicle’s features were individual options, JLR is simplifying. There will be an Off-Road pack with electronic active differential, all-terrain tires, and water-crossing Wade sensing, an Advanced Off-Road pack with all-terrain progress control, Terrain Response 2, and an Air Suspension pack with air suspension and adaptive damping.

Similar packs will be offered, including the Cold Climate pack with a heated windscreen, washer jets, and power light wash, the Comfort and Convenience Pack with interior lighting and a fridge, and the Premium Upgrade Interior Pack with a leather wheel, more cabin leather, and 14-way heated and cooled front seats.

Defender will also offer a new protective film. The matte clear wrap adds protection to help protect the body from scratches and marks when you’re bashing down a trail.

We’re also surprised to see one thing that hasn’t changed. European Defender models are dropping their inline-six engines for V8s, upping displacement and power. The 5.0L V8—badged P425 to differentiate it from the P400 I6 and 518 hp P525 V8s—makes 419 hp. Canada will continue to see P400 models making 395 hp from that 3.0L twin-turbo I6.

The 2025 Land Rover Defender lineup starts from $77,650 for the Defender 90, $79,250 for Defender 110, and $88,700 for Defender 130. They will arrive at dealers in late summer.
