2025 Mini Cooper SE Electric Gets Double Old Model’s Range

All-new generation of electric Mini coming

  • The Mini Cooper E and SE models get more range

  • SE adds even more power from new electric motor

Mini isn’t ready to show off the bodywork of the next-gen car, but it is ready to talk about the specs of its latest EV. The 2025 Mini Cooper SE and new E will get more power and more range along with some other useful electric changes.

Cooper E will be a new addition to the lineup. That one will get an electric motor that makes 181 hp which is the same power level as the outgoing SE. E will also come with a 40.7 kWh battery pack, which is a significant upgrade over the 32 kWh current pack.

The 2025 Mini Cooper SE gets even more power, with 215 hp from its electric motor. The old 181 hp model could hit 100 km/h from a stop in under four seconds, so this one should be even quicker.

Cooper SE will get a 52.4 kWh pack, nearly double the existing electric Mini. Accordingly, the total range skyrockets. Mini says to expect between 300 and 400 km from the two models on the WLTP cycle. The current electric Mini manages just 181 km on the Canadian test loop.

Mini says the Cooper SE was already the most popular of its models, racking up 25.5 percent of the company’s sales. This new longer-range model should boost that even higher.

The 2025 Mini Cooper E and SE start production in November of this year. Expect them in showrooms in early 2024.
