2025 Nissan Murano Unveiled: V6 Engine Replaced by Turbocharged 4-Cylinder Engine

After 10 years on the market, the third-generation Nissan Murano will be replaced by a much more modern product.

  • The 2025 Nissan Murano is powered by a 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder engine.

  • It can tow a load of up to 1,500 lbs.

  • Nissan Zero Gravity design seats are featured in the rear.

The third-generation Nissan Murano has been on the market since 2015 and will be discontinued at the end of the current model year. Aging, it was frankly ripe for a complete rejuvenation.

The automotive press was invited to Nissan Americas headquarters in Franklin, Tennessee, to witness the world premiere of the Nissan Murano 2025 up close.

The V6 engine disappears

In terms of powertrains, the 3.5L V6 engine has been replaced by a 2.0L, four-cylinder VC-Turbo engine. The latter develops 241 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. It features variable compression technology. To date, this powertrain has been used under the hood of the Infiniti QX50, QX55 and, more recently, the QX60. These Infiniti SUVs generate 268 hp, and the manufacturer recommends premium fuel (91), while the Murano can be fuelled with regular fuel (87).

The 2025 Murano’s block is married to a nine-speed stepped automatic transmission. All versions are equipped with four-wheel drive.

As we were able to see when we took a close look at the fourth-generation Murano, it really has a new look for 2025. Its stature is different, with its width increased by 2.6 inches. At the front, you can see its “Crystal Cube” LED headlamps. The Murano takes on some of the modern styling cues found on the Ariya, an electric crossover sold under the same banner.

Overall, the 2025 Nissan Murano gives the impression of a more upscale vehicle than in the past.

A neat, modern interior

When you climb aboard the 2025 Nissan Murano, you can see the dual 12.3-inch screens. As standard, it features wireless compatibility with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It also includes integrated Google technology.

Buttons on the center console have replaced the traditional gearshift lever.

It’s also worth noting that this two-row midsize SUV is the first to have Nissan Zero Gravity rear seats. The manufacturer also points out that seat access is easier than on the outgoing model. Trunk space is 931.6 L. Heated front seats, steering wheel, and windshield washer nozzles come as standard.

With the 2025 Nissan Murano, safety is not forgotten. The Nissan Safety Shield 360 package is standard and includes an array of driver assistance features. The SV version of the Murano benefits from ProPilot Assist technology, while the SL and Platinum models inherit ProPilot Assist 1.1, a more advanced version.

The Nissan Murano 2025 will arrive in Quebec dealerships early next year. For the moment, we don’t know its price range. The Murano 2024 starts at $45,624. It would not be surprising to see the starting price jump to 2025.

Official fuel consumption figures for Canada have not yet been released.
