A new in-line six-cylinder engine is included in the Ram 1500 catalog for 2025.
A more luxurious version, Tungsten, enhances the offering.
Stellantis also adds an electrified variant called Ramcharger.
Stellantis recently took the wraps off its fully revamped Ram 1500 lineup for the 2025 model year. Motor Illustrated was present for the exclusive reveal by the esteemed American automaker. Dive into our comprehensive report for the complete scoop.
An in-line six-cylinder engine
Although many consumers are impatient with Ram’s 100% electric pickup, Stellantis continues to believe in the relevance of gasoline engines and has invested in them. For 2025, the Ram 1500 pickup will be powered by a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six engine. In its regular-efficiency version, the Hurricane engine develops 420 hp and 469 lb-ft of torque. The high-efficiency version of the same Hurricane engine generates 540 hp and 521 lb-ft of torque. Maximum load capacity is set at 2,300 lbs, while maximum towing capacity is 11,580 lbs.
At the same time, we say goodbye to the 5.7 L Hemi V8 engine. The 3.6 L Pentastar V6 engine with eTorque technology remains in the catalog. Regardless of engine choice, the Ram 1500 will be equipped with an eight-speed automatic transmission.
As you can see from the photos, the Ram 1500 has been partially redesigned for the 2025 model year. In particular, designers have worked to improve aerodynamics. The Uconnect 5 infotainment system, combined with a 14.5-inch touchscreen, is available depending on the version chosen.
A more luxurious Tungsten version
For 2025, Stellantis is introducing an even more upscale version of the Ram 1500 pickup. It’s called Tungsten. Features include a power-assisted tailgate, LED lights and distinctive badging.
On board, there’s a distinguishing combination of colors and materials. This version of the Ram 1500 is equipped with a 23-speaker Klipsch stereo system. It also features two wireless charging mats for cell phones.
The Ramcharger returns
Produced from 1974 to 1993 for the Canadian and American markets, the Dodge Ramcharger was an SUV whose mandate included competing with the Chevrolet Blazer/GMC Jimmy and Ford Bronco.
For 2025, Stellantis is using this name to designate a new, electrified version of the Ram 1500. This new iteration is built on the STLA architecture designed and developed for large electric vehicles.
The Ram 1500 Ramcharger aims to eliminate range anxiety and dependence on the charging station network. Technically speaking, it features a 92 kWh battery, a 130 kW generator and two electric motors (a 250 kW front motor and a 238 kW rear motor). The generator is powered by a 3.6 L Pentastar V6 petrol engine.
This truck develops an impressive 663 hp and 615 lb-ft of torque. All this enables it to pull a load of up to 14,000 lbs.
Range is estimated at 1,100 kilometers.
The Ram 1500 Ramcharger can, for example, power your home in the event of a power failure, but it can also recharge another electric vehicle.
The Ram 1500 2025 is scheduled to arrive in dealerships in the first quarter of 2024. Pricing details will be announced at a later date.
The Ram 1500 REV is scheduled to start arriving at dealerships in the fourth quarter of 2024, at the same time as the new Ram 1500 Ramcharger.
