Confirmed Through Government Filings
U.S. outlet Car and Driver reports that the V6 no longer appears in the G70’s U.S. government homologation documents. The information has been confirmed bu Genesis Canada. When an engine disappears from these filings, it typically means that powertrain won’t be carried over ans it’s the case.

A 2027 Genesis G70 Is Still Coming
The filing does confirm one thing: the Genesis G70 will indeed return for the 2027 model year. Rumors that the sedan would be discontinued altogether have been building for months. Losing the V6, however, is a strong signal that this generation is nearing the end of its life cycle. When automakers start trimming a model’s lineup down to the essentials, it’s usually a sign the end is near.

A Decade on the Market
The Genesis G70 has been sold in North America since 2019, after launching internationally in late 2017. Despite a mid-cycle refresh in 2022, the G70 is now a decade old — a long run in automotive terms, and especially rare for a South Korean automaker. So far, Genesis doesn’t appear to have a direct replacement for the G70 in the pipeline.
A Twin-Turbo V6 Shared Across the Hyundai Family
The 3.3-liter twin-turbo V6 was a genuine performance highlight, producing 365 horsepower and 376 lb-ft of torque. This engine has powered a range of models across the Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis lineup. Among the most iconic applications is the G70’s technical cousin at Kia: the Kia Stinger.

What’s Left for the 2027 Genesis G70?
For 2027, the G70 will be left with just the 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, good for 300 horsepower and 311 lb-ft of torque. Every Canadian-spec G70 — whether in Advanced or Prestige trim — comes standard with an 8-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. Pricing for 2027 hasn’t been announced yet, but for 2026, the G70 ranges from $56,000 to $61,000, excluding the V6-powered Sport trim, which starts at $67,000.
