Another day, another Volkswagen I.D. Concept. This time, it’s the I.D. Roomzz electric SUV with three rows of seats.
In other words, the new Volkswagen I.D. Roomzz I.D. Concept is the largest electric Volkswagen I.D. vehicle to day. It’s designed as a family electric SUV with three rows of seats.
In other words, you could see it as a fully electric Volkswagen Atlas eventual replacement and you would not be too far off. Here are three things to know about the new Volkswagen I.D. Roomzz.
1. It Has Over 400 Kilometers of Range
The Volkswagen I.D. Roomzz gets its power from an 82-kWh battery which provides up to 450 kilometers of range according to WLTP (Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicles) standards. That’s 280 miles of fully electric range.
North American EPA standards are usually more realistic and thus usually lead to lower range numbers, but the I.D. Roomzz should still have around 400 kilometers of range once the EPA gets around to testing it.
2. It Will Have 4Motion All-Wheel Drive
There are two electric motors powering the I.D. Roomzz, one upfront and one in back for the rear axle. These two engines will combine to form a unique version of Volkswagen’s 4Motion all-wheel drive system.
Both engines will provide 302 horsepower of total power which means getting to 100 km/h will only take 6.6 seconds according to Volkswagen.
3. It’s Coming in 2020
Volkswagen is planning a heavy electric vehicle offensive starting next year when the German automaker will launch the Volkswagen I.D Crozz and Compact I.D. EVs. The Volkswagen I.D. Roomzz is said to be the third Volkswagen electric vehicle coming next year and will be sold in all markets globally including North America. Volkswagen expects the new Volkswagen I.D. Roomzz to be available for sale by 2021.
